Home Loans gets a make-over with John Rolfe at the helm
Originally from Western Australia, John is a veteran of the Finance industry with over thirty three year’s experience who is now based at Head Office in Adelaide.
Tell us about your background, how did you end up in Adelaide?
I’m a born and bred West Aussie but I moved to Adelaide in 2008 to work with HomeStart Finance and have been here ever since.
What is your professional background?
I’m 33 year bank Johnny. I was with R&I Bank/BankWest for 25 years before joining HomeStart for the next 7. I suppose I am loyal!
How do you like to spend your weekends?
I am a sports nut. Cricket and AFL are my passions but I’m a firm believer that “too much sport is never enough!” so I’ll happily watch anything.
I’m lucky enough to live in God’s country (West Beach) so I can’t go past a long walk on the beach with my golden retriever, Buster!
What’s the last book you read or movie you watched?
I’m far too impatient to get through an entire book when I can watch the movie! Last movie I saw one of my wife’s favourites, Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. I give it a 7/10.
Can you tell us a bit about your role as Head of Elders Home Loans, what does it entail?
Elders Home Loans was a joint venture that Elders had 50% equity in for about 9 years. The decision was made to bring it in-house and I have joined to run it. It’s a mortgage broking business with a field of loan writers spread far and wide around the country. I am responsible for growing the business and providing a mortgage loan solution for our Real Estate offices.
How have you found your time at Elders so far?
It’s been great. There is a lot of scope because we are really restructuring and rebuilding the Elders Home Loans offering which is an exciting prospect for me.
Even more importantly the people have been very friendly and helpful. I get to sit amongst the livestock team and listen in to discussions about logistics of moving animals all over the world.
What do you anticipate will be the biggest challenge in your role?
There are new challenges every day so I couldn’t tell you one! It’s all a work in progress, but I’m looking forward to the ride!
